Went to the Hole in the Wall located on the Wild Coast of South Africa
Drove 950km from George in the Garden Route to East London where we overnighted and then drove the next day from East London to Hole in the Wall via Butterworth, Idutywa, Viedgesville then we went on the badly pot holed tar road down from Coffee Bay to Hole int he Wall.
This is the view that greets you as you approach Hole in the Wall from the Coffee Bay side. The rounded hill is called the Whales Back and the famous Hole in the Wall is the the right of the image.
Left side view of the most famous landmark on the Wildcoast of South Africa. You can just see the hole in the wall if you look carefully in the middle of the image. Aha thats looks like a more familiar right side image taken late afternoon.
At the Hole in the Wall is the mouth to the Mpako River which you can cross at low tide or swim across to the Big Shell beach as can be seen from the next image which was taken from the Whales Back (Hole in the Wall directly in the mouth of the Mpako River)
Some more closeup images of closeups of the Hole in the Wall
The Hole in the Wall Hotel and Backpackers is very popular with overseas and local visitors. It is approx
a 1 km walk to get to the Hole in the Wall
